Hewitt Performing Arts
Hewitt Performing Arts is a very large award winning performing arts school based in Essex (that is in its 50th year of trading), with it’s main branch in Romford. We cover all aspects of the performing arts such as Tap, Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Disco, Street, Commercial, Musical Theatre, Drama, Singing, Irish Hard Shoe, Irish Soft Shoe, Contemporary, and Teachers Training. Every year more students qualify as Dance Teachers. On January 1st 2000 Jean Hewitt (Founder of HPA) lead the News Years day Parade through London as she was recognised by the Queen for her contribution to the dance world. She went on to meet The Queen later on that year.
PERFORMANCES & EXAMS
HPA put on annual performances at The Queens Theatre, Hornchurch and The Towngate Theatre. After the show our pupils take part in annual BATD exams and we pride ourselves in achieving a 100% pass rate each year.
The Musical Theatre, Drama and Singing side of the school do yearly performances too. Every Summer we put on workshops, inviting all HPA and non HPA students to attend. All staff are qualified in either BATD, ISTD, RAD, LAMDA , NATD, and have a love of dance and teaching and are a real credit to HPA.
TEACHERS TRAINING
We offer BATD Associate and Member training on a Saturday morning. Pupils gain a professional teaching qualification.
